The Fields is a new band with a long history.

Long-time participants of the Great Lakes Bay Region music scene, the members had known and worked together for over a decade in various ways.

Sampson, Jeglic, and Peil had all performed in multiple bands together (notable for Peil and Jeglic, the fuzz metal band Orc). O'Kelly's was a friend and collaborator whose previous band had been recorded and produced by Jeglic at his home studio.

The members share a love of the indie folk scene as well as the folk scene of the 1970s, bonding over bands like Fleet Foxes, Blitzen Trapper, Neil Young, and Tom Waits.

This shared passion, as well as the long desire of Jeglic and O'Kelly to collaborate as songwriters, served as the genesis for what would become The Fields.

Their self-titled debut album is being released on August 2, 2025 on digital platforms and vinyl.
